Muirhouse Medical Group
Welcome to our surgery website where we hope you will quickly benefit from a user friendly layout and a wealth of information about our healthcare services. Find out when we’re open and what to do when we’re not, all from the comfort of your own home.
We have modern purpose-built premises with wheelchair access, a bike and pram store and a neighbouring car park. The practice also has an inductive loop system for patients with hearing difficulties.
Change of details
It is vital that we have up-to-date contact details for all of our patients. Please let us know of any changes to your contact details. You can do this by clicking on the link below, phoning or asking at reception for a change of details form. If you move away from our catchment area you will be asked to register with another surgery nearer to your new address.
Bowel Cancer - Don't take a chance - take the test
All men and women aged 50–74 are invited for bowel screening. Bowel screening involves taking a simple test at home every two years. For more information see our bowel screening page.
Our repeat prescription ordering system is called Vision Online. It is linked to your medical record and you will be able to select the medicine(s) you need from a list. To use this new system you need to come to the surgery with one form of photographic ID to register. This ID check is necessary to ensure that no-one else can access your medical information. If you have any questions about the new system please ask at reception.

From 1st March the surgery opening hours will be 8.30am - 6pm and we will be open over lunchtime. The times during which you can register with the surgery have also been extended and are now 10.30am - 1pm and 3.30 - 5pm.
New Lunchtime appointments - Pilot Scheme
For the months of March, April and May we are trying out a small number of lunchtime appointments one day per week (between 12noon and 1pm). The idea behind this experiment is to see whether there are patients who find it difficult to attend at other times and whether a small number of appointments at lunch time would help improve access. If you find you cannot attend the surgery at other times you may wish to ask for one of these lunchtime appointments. We will review the success or otherwise of this scheme during May.
