Susanne McKenzie is our Healthcare Assistant and works Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, doing Phlebotomy and Phlebotomy Home Visits.
We have a counsellor, Shane Buckeridge, who works at the practice on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays. We also have trainee counsellors, who work under his supervision.
Referrals to the counselling service are done through your GP.
We have 2 Link Workers, Jane Dunbar and Tess Roxburgh, working in the surgery. They are able to have longer appointments with you if you need support from other health related organisations. There are many groups in the area that can give various types of support but it’s sometimes not easy to find out about them, or to take the first steps towards seeking help. Jane and Tess can help you find the groups that may be beneficial for you.
Please ask a Doctor, Nurse or reception about being referred to them.
Mental health nurses
We have two mental health nurses based at the practice who can offer support to those experiencing ongoing mental health problems. If you think you would benefit from an appointment with a mental health nurse please ask reception.
A health visitor is a registered nurse who has received training particularly related to babies, children and pregnant women. Their role is to provide families with children under five with information and advice to support mental, physical and social well-being.
The team can be contacted Monday to Friday 08:30 – 17:00 on 0131 286 5010.

To arrange antenatal care either contact reception at Muirhouse Medical Group to arrange an appointment with your usual doctor or telephone 0131 536 2009 to arrange a midwife appointment.
